There are day where I really hate my own eagerness to try new things. Usually it ends up something bad happens and I usually end up spend a few hours bringing everything back online again.

This time it stemmed from a botched Windows Seven install. I had ignored the warning signs that it was botched because it worked just fine.
When I went to go and add Linux to the mix it found and exacerbated the problem, making Windows unbootable, not by erasing it, but by (as far as I can tell, severing the link between the actual windows drive and it's boot loader located strangely on another drive. Oops
Here is what finally told Gary (he was helping me) and I that it was royally screwed and the only solution was to wipe the entirety of the hard disk including a restore partion that I had just recently found it was holding the Windows boot loader... (WTF)
sda1 < sda5, sda6, sda7 > sda2, sda3

the drives listed in the < and > are extended partitions and not primary. (oops yet again)
As a result as I am typing this entry, I am watching my laptop synchronize with an external hard drive, same as the one mentioned in the previous entry. (You have got to love it when the right tools are available at the right time) The faster way would have been to cut my loses and wipe the drive. (I have done that many times before and it is not a pretty way to do things.)

This time I intend to not botch the install and clean the entire disk out. No remaining vestiges of any previous OS to be found and windows in a Primary partition...
